The recent oil spill near the Gulf of Mexico has alarmed many, especially environmentalists who are concerned about the spill's effects on the brown pelicans. The brown pelicans were removed from the endangered list not too long ago, and the spill may have landed them a spot on it again. This incident also stirred increased opposition to Palin's advocacy of drilling in Alaska. This spill killed many animals, and increased drilling in Alaska could affect the wildlife there as well.
