In this political cartoon their are three volcanoes with black thick smoke rising out of them which usually means they are active. While the smoke escapes the mouth of the first volcano a airplane passes threw and when the airplane is on the other side its engines goes out. Above the airplane the words
"OH CRUD... THE ENGINES JUST QUIT!!!" appears in a bubble. Also the word "Recovery" is painted on the side of the airplane and threw the black thick smoke the word "UNEMPLOYMENT"
The high unemployment rate of Americans who have lost their jobs which is similar to the Iceland volcano eruption the political cartoonist connected the two in one image. Since the effect of unemployment on America economy is overshadowing the constant positive statements coming from the White House. They say that they are working out the our national economy recovery. But actually the smoke recession still cancels are flight planes to recovery and we will not see sunny clouds for a while because of the darkness and thickness of unemployment.
