In this political cartoon the artists drew two men on one side of the picture with angry faces and the words “We’re asserting our rights to carry guns where we need protection...” above their heads. The shorter man has a gun strapped around his body and a piece of paper in one of his hand that says “Nat’l Parks”. The taller man also has a gun strapped around his body and a starbucks coffee in one of his hands. On the other side of the picture the two men are sitting in belchers at Sea World and have the same angry faces. But this time the words above there head states “I’m Packin’ and Hopped Up On Double Mochas If You’re Feeling Lucky SHAMU!!!” The taller men is saying this two the killer whale in his tank, while both of the men aiming guns at the whale.
Since the killing of another Sea World employ, the killer in killer whale stands out even more. A killer whale kept in captivity at the park strikes again but this time his victim was his trainer. The political cartoonist links this tragedy to the beliefs and ideas of pro gun activist. Pro activist believe that it’s their right to carry hand guns to protect themselves from danger and the danger the two men in the cartoon are protecting themselves from is the danger of getting eaten by the killer whale. The starbucks coffee also plays a role in the story because it repents the issue between anti gun activist and the policy of Starbucks Company. The Starbucks Company has no problem with following state laws, which allow citizens to carry fire arms in public but anti gun activist are protesting agaisnt the company for a change in policy. They want gun owners banned from coming in starbucks with fire arms. However, the Starbucks Company doesn’t plan on banding fir arms and risking lthe ost of vauled custmers. Pro gun activist are still purchasing their double mochas with their guns strapped to there waist.
