In this cartoon, we see a Killer Whale above a fish bowl; the whale is holding a can of food and a fish net. Inside the bowl is a human diver. The caption at the top reads: "In a different world...". The whale speaks to the diver, saying: "How is your confined, neurotic life?" This is referring to the controversy surrounding the recent death of a trainer in Sea World. A Killer Whale killed the trainer because of being in captivity. Although we expect animals to behave in captivity, this is not often the case. We capture, contain, and breed wild animals in captivity for our personal entertainment. Wild animals are used to being free from human control and being comfortable in their natural environment, in their natural social structures. Taking them from this environment and placing them in tanks and cages will alter their behavior, making them more aggressive. Animals should be left in the wild, or at the very least, in a very large, open enclosure with other animals, simulating their natural environment.
