In this cartoon, we see Obama with a cigarette in his mouth looking like a cool guy in his shades, with wording to the right "Smooth Joe President." Walking by we see a man and a woman with a newspaper in hand, headline: " Obama Still Smoking - Doc." Below the cartoon we also see a quote questioning, "Remember when this country was enraged that a Camel has a bad influence on its Children?" This cartoon is showing how much Obama has become addicted to smoking and if he doesn't stop he will be said to be a bad influence on his people.
When Obama pledged to his wife that he would quit smoking, it was believed by everyone that it would have been a permanent promise, but as time passed by there was a change in his decision. He is now seen as a smoke addict who now struggles with being smoke free and from my perspective it sets a bad example for children who look up to him. As it as always been said, "children live what they learn," and therefore for Obama to be smoking, sends a wrong message to not only the media but to us children. It is understandable that he faces multiple challenges and is therefore stressed because of them, but there are many other way that he can deal with his displeasure that may have a positive impact on everyone without ruining his reputation.
