(complex sentence)Apart from the constant lying,(appostive phrase) Tim, my friend, is a pretty cool guy. (compound sentences) We used to be able to tell each other everything, but things (Participal Phrase) changed (adverbial clauses) as soon as he went off to college and broke our wonderful friendship. (simple sentence)I asked Tim (infinittive) to promise me (adjectival clause)that he will never lie again.(compound and complex sentence) Even though we've been through highs and lows with each other, (prepositional phrase) between the lies and the abrupt change of him (gerund) moving, I have learned to forgive him and allow myself to discover the true meaning of friendship.

First sentence is simple; second is compound-complex and no participial phrase is evident. Rest looks to be appropriately labeled.
