This cartoon depicts Obama as a firefighter, with a firetruck in the background. There is a black cat stuck in a tree, and Obama is running toward it with a ladder. A thought bubble reveals that the cat is thinking "Now I'm really screwed." This cartoon is saying that Obama is incapable of any sort of rescue or relief. The cartoon "Obama's First Year," shows how the public opinion has shifted from trust in Obama to skepticism through the use of satire. Although inaugurated a year ago, our president does not have much to show for the year. The vast majority of our population started with high hopes. However, reality has fallen short of their expectations, and Obama has not brought about all the changes he promised. Nowadays, most citizens do not trust our president, and neither does the cat in the cartoon.
