The cartoon depicts two men sitting on a bench. One comments that aid must be given to Haiti faster, which prompts the other to ask "What makes you such an expert?" The first man replies, "Experience" and we can now see that "Katrina Survivor" is written on his shirt. There is a large body of water before them, even though they are sitting on a sidewalk. Behind them is a house on stilts. This cartoon a commentary on the lethargic response to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and that there should be a more vigilant response to the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. The government rescue efforts dispatched to victims in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina were disorganized and untimely. Many people who survived the hurricane itself died of dehydration or starvation while waiting for aid. Government leaders in America drew scrutiny and criticism from the rest of the world over their delayed reaction to the crisis. Now, as the world deals with yet another disaster in Haiti, concerns are voiced that it will be a repeat of the Katrina debacle if rescue response is not more prompt.
