In this illustration it has one side, George W. Bush dodging a shoe and on the other side, a frightened man who is representing the American public, with a large amount of shoes being hurled at him, with inscriptions on them such as bailout, layoffs, banks, wall street, credit crunch, economy, bankruptcy, housing crises, etc. The political cartoon means that George Bush had it easy, because he only got to face having two shoes thrown at him by an Iraqi journalist, at a news conference in Bagdad (unfortunately the journalist missed.); but the American public will have to suffer the consequences of what George Bush has done to the economy: increase in taxes, certain people can’t afford to pay bills or buy homes in certain areas, increase in gas (actually its gotten lower now), people getting fired from their jobs because some jobs can’t afford to pay them a decent earning wage or the job is to costly to support. Also people are hesitant in putting their money in the banks because they’re afraid it might go bankrupt since the stock market crashed.

President Bush's shoe attack, while it was a good laugh (and you're right, it would've been even better if the guy actually hit him), is nothing when juxtaposed with the real problems that the American people are facing. Bush was able to dodge a pair of shoes by simply moving out of the way. How are we, the people, suppose to dodge the copious problems that are being thrown at us? The man representing the American public is shown panicking as opposed to President Bush, who looks perfectly content. Maybe he's unaware of the horrific state that America's in right now. Maybe he's waiting for Obama to fix our problems. Maybe he simply just doesn't care about America. =[

I agree with you Sijun, Bush does seem to have an air of nonchalance about him while the American public representative is completely petrified. This may be due to the fact that Bush can always pass his problems down to Obama while we have to live with the consequences of his mistakes.
