Paul Conrad, California -- The Los Angeles Times SyndicateIn this cartoon, you can see President Bush behind a podium, ducking, and getting shoes thrown at him. In the picture, he is getting eight shoes thrown his way and each shoe signifies something different. The shoes are labeled: cars, the economy, Iraq, banks, schools, health, jobs, and debts. Every shoe is important in their own way. They all represent what went wrong during the eight years of Bush's presidency. This cartoon expresses the feelings that some people have toward President Bush. All eight shoes represent something that went wrong during the past eight years, each shoe representing one year of Bush's presidency. Our soldiers have been stuck in Iraq for a while now, and it's time to get them out. Jobs are getting harder and harder to find. School is getting harder to pay for and this can lead to students not going to college because of all of the expenses. It is hard to even have a car because of the costs and the gas. The economy is getting worse and worse as each day goes by, who knows what is going to happen tomorrow. Bush should have thought about the consequences of his actions before he started making all these changes that were supposed to "help" the United States. Bush deserved to get that shoe thrown at his face, and this is why he is leaving the White House with the reputation that he has today.

Wow Sarah, perfect. Bush has basically ruined the United States. We are usually looked at as big brother, other countries look up to the U.S. Unfortunately after having a president such as Bush that reputation has gone right down the drain. It's insane how bad of a crisis we're facing and have been facing for the last eight years. I like the part of your analysis when you said Bush should have thought about the consequences, that seems nearly impossible because it's almost as if Bush didn't have a clue as to what he was doing. Somehow this man managed to graduate from an Ivy League school and he is completely clueless as to what an OBGYN is or the correct way to hold a phone. Everything mentioned in your analysis seemed right on. The Republican's sign should be the donkey because Bush is a real Jack@$$. Get this man out of office.

I completely agree with the idea that "Bush should have thought about the consequences of his actions before he started making all these changes that were supposed to 'help' the United States." It really seems like he wasn't thinking at all. I didn't quite catch the fact that there were indeed eight shoes that represented the eight years he was in office so kudos to you, but what I did notice was that all of the shoes were coming in different directions, making it harder to dodge them. During the actual press conference, Bush was able to dodge both shoes, but it doesn't seem like he'll be able to dodge all of the shoes being thrown at him in this cartoon. Each shoe, representing things that Bush has made worse, seems to damage Bush's reputation, which qualifies the assertion you made that "Bush deserved to get that shoe thrown at his face, and this is why he is leaving the White House with the reputation that he has today."
