Marshall Ramsey, The Clarion Ledger, December 16, 2008 In this cartoon President Bush is standing at a podium dodging a shoe. This cartoon is an imitation of the events that had taken place last week when President Bush was assaulted by a shoe thrown by someone in the audience. Adjacent to Bush is a man who represents the American Public. This man is flustered, for he is faced with the daunting task of dodging several shoes, all labeled with different economic crises. The shoes that are being thrown at the man representing the American Public are all representations of situations that were all caused by President Bush. The message sent by this cartoon is a very powerful one. The media made a huge deal over President Bush's "Matrix moves" dodginf a couple shoes being thrown at him by an irate viewer. However it seems as if all of the crises written on the shoes are being downplayed and dwarfed by the news of shoes being flung at Bush and various other situations that had been blown out of proportions.
