Brian Fairrington, caglecartoons.comAs you can see, Santa and his elves are confiscating the presents instead of doing the usual and giving presents to children. Santa is shown saying, "Due to the bad economy I don't make toys anymore. ...I'm in the Repo business now." Due to our horrible economy, presents are no longer given, they are taken away in order to put money back into the economy. This cartoon says it all. With our economy circling the drain, there is no need to hope for a tree filled with presents underneath it. It does show that, even though it is Christmas, you cannot escape the tribulations of the declining economy. However, i do not believe that Christmas is about presents and how many you get; it's about family and friends being together on this holiday.

This cartoon eminates ill feelings. The irony that Santa, whos elves make toys supposedly, and who is full of the spirit of giving would reposses people's property. The cartoon seems to recognize the little sense of bought presents in the bad economy as was suggested in the analysis. The bad economy might encourage less commercialism for many, but some have a hard time giving up tradition. It seems like the family in this cartoon, a family suggested by a wooden baseball bat, did not stop from buying even though they had no money. Even repossession of property though is not so bad, for no one can take away what you believe and feel. I got aggrivated when my Dad, who's been out of work started putting up Christmas lights because I felt like it was economically and spiritually wrong. Now I am less stubborn, and am just glad for his positive attitude. Friends, family, and Christ are the only things that Christmas should be about, indeed.
