Joe Heller, Wisconsin -- The Green Bay Press-GazetteIn this cartoon, one can see a family running into a mall for all the sales that are being giving the day after Thanksgiving, usually referred to as "Black Friday." In the top left corner of this cartoon, one can see a family sitting around a table on Thanksgiving night, being thankful for everything that they have. In the small picture the family is stating "At this time every year, we pause and take stock of the gifts we're blessed with... 'cause then we'll know what to buy next!" This shows how families could be influenced by commercial activity. The juxtaposition of the two pictures shows this more explicitly because one picture shows the family praying and having morals to going crazy just because of materialistic things. This cartoon was quite funny and true. When it comes to Thanksgiving, people believe that they should be thankful for everything they have, but society only seems thankful on that day, just because we "should" be thankful. When it comes to Christmas, for the most part, most people just think about the gifts, and forget what the real spirit of Christmas is. On Thanksgiving, everyone acts a specific way, but right when the day ends, people are so quick to get up and go to the mall for all the sales that Christmas brings. People act selfish and completely forget what the real meaning of Christmas is: being with your family and being thankful for everything that you have.

I agree completly with what you said . I to found myself eating quickly Thanksgiving day just so that I could go to the mall for black Friday. But when I realized how ridiclous that is to rush through quality time with family to end up standing in line for 3 hours over what a pair of shoes. Your were right when you said people act a specific way on Thanksgiving but once the night is over they are so quick to go to the mall for all the sales Christmas brings

Great work overall, Sarah. To offer some different diction, you might consider changing the "this shows" in the last sentence of the first paragraph to "this cartoon demonstrates". Try to think of some other synonyms to "show," as this will help keep your language fresh.
