Joe Heller, Wisconsin -- The Green Bay Press-Gazette 11/22/08 This cartoon tells the story of the typical routine on Thanksgiving. The cartoon is broken up into four frames. The first frame has a turkey grinning and a caption saying “There once was a turkey named Tom.” The second frame is a picture of a mother, the story continues from the first frame saying “That was cooked to perfection by mom.” In the third frame the caption says “We counted our blessings, wolfed it down with some dressing” below that is a picture of a family of five praying at a table. In the final frame you see what appears to be the father of the family crashing on the couch while holding the newspaper. Above this photo it says “And dropped on the couch like a bomb.” I can easily relate to this cartoon because this is the exact situation that happens at my mothers house. We all find ourselves gorging our faces with food and then my step dad crashes on the couch shortly after. This cartoon is the typical routine on a Thanksgiving Day. The only part it fails to mention is all the women in the kitchen cleaning up the huge mess and washing dishes.

Nice work, Margaret. I wonder if you could have explored the topic a bit more thoroughly than you did. Perhaps a discussion of people's lack of appreciation for the effort that went into the meal? Something? Anything?
Good reply to a classmate.
