Mike Keefe, The Denver Post , 11/15/08 This cartoon shows an elephant, the icon for the Republican Party, and a psychic looking into her crystal ball. The face of Sarah Palin appears in the ball, revealing that Palin will be involved with the GOP’s future. The news shocks the elephant into having a heart attack; he’s shown on the floor, after falling out of his chair, clutching his heart. He has a horrified look on his face, implying that the future for the Republican Party will be put into jeopardy because of Sarah Palin. It’s quite understandable for Republicans to fear another election involving Sarah Palin. While John McCain was smart in his decision to pick a woman as his running mate, his plan backfired on him. During the election campaign this year, many people felt that Palin was oblivious to America's problems. According to a poll of more than 7,500 voters, 76.2% felt that Joe Biden, Obama's running mate, won the vice presidential debate; only 21% of the voters sided with Palin. Like the majority of the voters polled, I doubt she’ll make a good leader. She just doesn’t seem qualified enough to be Vice President of the United States, or in this case, President. If Palin turns out to be a candidate for presidency in 2012…I’ll be kind of scared too. "Who won the vice presidential debate?". Great work, Sijun! Your analysis is clear and precise, as is your argument and your reply to a classmate.
