In this political cartoon Obama is making a speech to the crowd where he says “at least wait ‘til AFTER my inauguration!”, and we all know why he is saying that. There has been many cases in which threats to assassinate Obama have been made. People are talking about how this is going to be the shortest presidency because he will be shot. Some even think it will be attempted before his inauguration. Today’s society is supposed to be a free nation with racial prejudices put aside. There are many cases in which the president that is elected is not liked by a certain group of people usually based on democrats versus republicans. Obama won fairly based off of the peoples vote which means the majority is in his favor just like how every other president is elected. So why should there all of a sudden be something wrong with this election where he should be assassinated. Even with the president that is about to resign everyone pretty much publicly expressed their dislike for him (Bush), yet there was nothing heard about people trying to assassinate him. This is the first time that someone of African American decent has been elected into presidency and all of a sudden people want him dead. This is obviously an act based off of race. Many people also rejoiced after the results. Are all of these actions made because “the black man won”, or was the better man elected who just happened to be black??

You mis-read this cartoon, Renee. I see no way in which this represents any potential assassination of Obama. The people are lined up waiting for Obama to do something to improve the country.
