In this political cartoon, on the left side is says “make history” and then on the right side there is a ballot with the names of the two main candidates in the 2008 election with a X on Barrack Obama’s box. The ballot shows only the names of John McCain and Barrack Obama because the competition was mainly between these two. This year’s election has made history as Senator Barrack Obama became the first African-American president. Obama did not only make history as he accepted this position, but he came with a promise for change. The election this year was divided greatly between the Americans as many voted on base of their history background. Blacks mainly voted for Obama because they believed that this may be a step toward their civil rights movement. Others opposed Obama only because of the fact that he is black. This cartoon shows us how Obama has made history and how our votes have helped made this significant change in history.
Earlier in the election, Hilary Clinton ran for president against Barrack Obama. She would’ve also “made history” since she would’ve been the first women president, but after she dropped out, Barrack Obama worked hard to obtain this position. As Barrack Obama came into office, he has already brought a “change” with him. This just showed how “Barrack Obama made history.” The importance of this cartoon is how Obama is black and he is our President for the next four years. John McCain honestly put up a good fight against Barrack Obama. This cartoon showed a ballot to show that we are the ones who picked Obama to make history and to make change in our country. We are all part of this election and also part of this country. Together we can make change and make history.
