Patrick Corrigan, The Toronto StarIn this cartoon, it is summertime, and a mother and her son are inside the house and it seems like they are not really planning on doing anything. When the mother says "Summer holidays, the great outdoors! Let's go and BURN some calories." One can see that she is emphasizing the "burn." When putting the word 'burn' in bold and capital the mother is trying to convince to get her son from off the chair so he could get outside and lose a little weight so he is not on the couch all day playing video games and eating junk food. After saying this, the son replies "Naw! I'll just burn some aliens." He does not want to do anything outside or see the sunlight, he would rather stay inside, play video games, and eat junk food. He is plopped on the couch with the controller in his hand with a large amount of food surrounding him. This cartoon shows the typical teenager on and average day. One rarely sees a child go outside just for the fun of it. Most kids are absorbed by the computer, television, cell phones, video games etc. This caroon also shows the toll that obesity is taking on America. Each year more and more people are getting obese, and do not know what to do about it. It is not healthy for kids to be inside all day and eating junk food all day. Something needs to be done. More people need to be doing hands on activities to help this problem stop.

Good analysis, though it extends to the second paragraph. All analysis of the cartoon should be done in the first paragraph. Your argument consists of two sentences.
