This political cartoon juxtapose both Biden's and Palin's view toward each other. On the right side you see a baby, which represent Palin. That is what Biden thinks of Palin. But on the left side you see a moose with a target, which represents Biden. That is how Palin views Biden. The baby represents Biden thoughts of Palin. He thinks that Palin's comments are childish and she doesn't know what she is doing. A baby needs someone to do everything for them because they are helpless and can't do anything for themselves. Biden probably view Palin as helpless and needy. She can't be on her own and rely on McCain to tell her what to do and what to say. For example, during the recent presidential debate Palin seemed lost and didn't know what to do. She kept repeating her self over and over again and wouldn't give a direct answer to the question she was being asked. Just like a child, confused and don't fully understand whats going on around them. On the other hand, Palin views Biden as a moose. Plain is known for moose hunting. Maybe this is saying that Biden is the huntee and Plain is the hunter. Palin sees Biden as a target and is ready to aim at him to gain victory. To Palin, Biden is just another moose wondering around. All she has to do is point, aim, and shot, and she's done. Palin is willing to win by any means necessary.

I must admit that you did a great job with your interpretation of the cartoon. I'm not completely sure, but the only thing I think you might have missed was that the baby was outside in the woods. It's not like the author had the baby in a play pen shaking a rattle; it was sitting in the woods in isolation. There’s a strong possibility that the author might have done this to elaborate on Joe Biden viewing Sarah Palin as the outdoorsy country type female.

The forest could be perceived as an intimidating and frightening place. It could represent the political world of the candidates. By placing Palin as a baby in the midst of the forest, the cartoonist displays Biden's point of view of Palin as vulnerable and defenseless. At the beginning, Palin did not have time to be prepared with the type of questions that media might ask her. However, after she practiced with the questions, her responses did improve. Palin views Biden as a prey and has the ability to strike him down with attacks on the Democratic Party. None of the candidates should underestimate the opposition because at this point both Obama and McCain have equal opportunity of winning the election.

I agree with both interpretations some extent. I agree that Palin, as someone who is known for moose hunting, may view Biden as a target from whose demise she can gain victory. However, rather than saying that Biden views Palin as an outdoors lovers. Is it possible that the author is in fact depicting her as someone who is not in their proper “neck of the woods”? A phrase which refers to someone who is well acquainted with a particular area or subject. Maybe the author is trying to insinuate that Biden feels that Palin is 1.) Not right for the job because she is in some ways infantile and 2.) Such significant participation in the ruling of this nation is not exactly Palin’s area of expertise, or “neck of the woods.”

Very clever cartoon. I can see from past confrences that Palin seems to not really know what she is doing or what she is takling about. She doesn't fully answer some questions. She's just kind of riding along side McCain, looking pretty. But could she be aiming to take McCain down? I noticed the background of the cartoons was the woods. The woods are scary and the rule is survival of the fittest; do whatever it takes to survive. Politics is much the same. In order to stay in the game you have to fight for survival.

Good work overall; analysis of cartoon should be in 1st paragraph only; several grammatical and mechanical errors (missing or awkward punctuation). Reply to classmate had pet peeve error (loose vs. lose). Review so you do not make the mistake again.
