Jeff Parker, Florida Today 10/2/2008 In this cartoon one can see an obese man labeled "OBESITY" on one side of a bench. On the other side of the bench there is a sick bird labeled "BIRD FLU" and a smoke stack labeled "GLOBAL WARMING." There is a posted sign that says, "GLOBAL THREAT WAITING AREA." The obese man seems to be the next one in line because he is closest to the door. There is quite a bit of significance in this cartoon. The man labeled "OBESITY" is closest to the door implying that obesity is the next global threat. As you can see, where the obese man sits the bench goes down. The fact that the bench is lower where the obese man is and is elivated where the other global threats are is suggesting that obesity is "out weighing" (no pun intended) the other global threats.

This cartoon is so true! So many kids and people are becoming overwieght and not caring about their health. Soon obesity is going to be an even bigger issue than it already is. There is only one solution to this problem. People need to get active and start to watch the junk food that they take in.Some people live off of fast foodwhich is extremely bad becuase there is an abundant amount of fat in the food. Everyone needs to get healthy, and I don't mean stick thin from throwing up or becoming anorexic kind of healthy.

I love this picture. Obesity is certainly becoming a larger concern than other life threatening things. The bird flu broke out in Asia and it could end up like aids. Aids started in Africa and somehow made it's way over to the Americas. The bird flu may do the same. Global warming isn't predicted to take full effect for a while. When you really think about it, obesity is the most pressing matter at the moment. If everyone bulks up and dies from high cholesterol or high blood pressure, there won't be anybody around to worry about the bird flu or global warming.
