Pat Bagley, Salt Lake Tribune, 9/25/08 This cartoon depicts a car representing the US Iraq Policy with President Bush and Vice President Cheney as its passengers. The car is in a dark alley directly facing a brick wall in a place that seems somewhat decrepit. The area seems to be a deplorable poor area of a city with evidence of urban decay all around and some mysterious figures lingering about in the shadows of the background. Bush and Cheney both seem to think that they aren't a all lost when they obviously are. This cartoon is a perfect expression of the US Policies in Iraq. The war in Iraq has become a pointless war. Some however believe the war does have a point: oil. Our troops occupy Iraq and other Middle Eastern regions, and we are basically being a middle-man between two different radical parties that also occupy the Middle East. We are trying to fight a "war on terror" however by populating one country we are doing nothing to stop a terrorist organization that operates in many countries around the world. So as the cartoon suggests, our Iraq policies are lost and they don't have much of a hope of finding the right path.

Good work. Offset the "however" with commas on either side for grammatical clarity. Reply to classmate was riddled with cliches. Use fresh language to state your claims and build a clear, cogent argument.
