Bruce Plante, Tulsa World, Tulsa, OK This image shows Obama and McCain fight for the position for President. They are arguing over the phrase of “lipstick and pigs.” Obama and McCain fight in the mud arguing about “lipstick” as if they were little children. The pigs are watching this argument as if it was some sort of “show.” One pig asked, “So this is how they chose the leader of the free world?” Having made this comment, the other pig makes a remark saying, “You can dress them up, but they’re still just politicians.” The pigs are covered with mud and so are the Presidents who are “nice dressed”, but are just as dirty from inside. The pigs are calling politician undecided, ugly people as they see the two politicians fight in the mud, saying “lipstick.” The pigs are amused by the politicians cruel, dirty, and unprofessional ways. This image implied that politicians all lie and can do anything to become President. Even if they “dress up”, their hearts are the same. By using pigs in this image, the cartoonist was able to refer to the analogy both Obama and McCain used in their speeches. Obama had said, “You can dress a pig up, but they will still be pigs.” McCain said, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.” There has been a big controversy going on for the last few days as McCain’s party claims that Obama’s remark was directed to Sarah Palin. McCain thought he could distract the public and media by bringing up this topic.

I also found it comical how the two politicians were rolling around in the mud, as you mentioned. Politicians are known for playing dirty, dishonestly, whatever you want to call it. Then, the second pig says, "You can dress 'em up, but they're still just politicians." As you said, they are "just as dirty from inside" no matter how well they present themselves to the public. The pig is saying that no matter what campaign is run that presents them in a positive light, they will still just be politicians and revert back to their dishonest ways. You know, the way John McCain did when he misconstrued Barack Obama's statement. He played dirty, just as the pigs said he would. What added to the humor of this cartoon was how the pigs were making the same comment the two politicians had made, except the politician's comments were about the pigs.

Only two sentences of your second paragraph are devoted to creating your own argument. Analysis is good.
