Gary Varvel, Indiana -- The Indianapolis Star-NewsIn this cartoon one can see four students with four different types of cords on their necks, and each cord has its own significance. The first student has on a cord that means that he had honors classes in high school, the second student has the cords that represent high honors, the third student had the highest honors in high school, and last student has a noose instead of a cord, and the noose represents debt. This cartoon signifies the large amount of money that graduates have to pay when going to college. Nowadays, college is extremely expensive and if high school students do not get scholarships most cannot go to college. When a student does go to college, and they have to ask for loans, they do not have to pay back the loans until after they graduate college. Even though this gives students copious amount of time to earn money to pay the loans, they have so much money to pay, that they end up in debt and do not know how to pay it. This could be a really scary thought because at time goes by college tuition is going to get even more expensive and less students are going to be able to go.

This is very very true. My sister went through 60,000 dollars in debt and it's not fun. Graduates going to college should do everything in their power to avoid student loans. One loan turns into another, turns into another and then you're in debt! This cartoon is very relatable.
