Steve Kelley, The New Orleans Times-Picayune -- 9/18/08 In this cartoon we have a security man asking one of the passengers why is he wearing"four shirts, two pairs of slacks and cargo shorts" . The security guard implies "isn't that a little suspicious" the passenger simply says"Not really". In the passengers hand he is holding a newspaper that says "Airlines charging for luggage. This explains why the passenger is wearing his whole entire wardrobe, he does not to pay "extra" for luggage. He figures he can beat the system by not carrying luggage. This cartoon is very true. Many airlines are charging an extra fee of $15 for your second suitcase you choose to carry with you. Many of the increase in airine tickets as well as luggage prices have to do with the tremendous increase in gas prices. Society nowadays is trying to figure out every possible way to squeeze money from every corner they see fit. It is hard enough to keep up with the demanding efforts keep up with gas prices, now we must worry about paying extra money for a lousy suitcase.

I completely agree with this analysis, because now days the cost of a plane ticket alone makes you want to stay home. The recently established fees for having over a certain amount of luggage shows how much gas prices are taking monopoly over our lives. With the increase in gas prices, airlines have now had to find creative ways to pay for the expensive gas, even if that means we are nickel and dimed in the process. So now, as if Americans did not have enough to worry about, now we have to worry about someone else unwantedly sticking their hands in our pockets.

Airplane ticket prices are now very expensive. Maybe that is why most people stop traveling like they used to. The ticket already cost about $450 , so why make us pay extra for our luggage. Some airlines make you pay for meals. For example when I took AmericanAirlines I had to pay six dollars if I wanted a sandwich. Hello, what about the $250 dollars I paid to get on this plane, doesn't that count. This proves that everything you do revolves around money.
