Bruce Plante, Tulsa World, Tulsa, 9/17/08 In this picture you can see what appears to be a farm setting. On one side of the fence you have two pigs. On the other side is Obama and McCain fighting. McCain and Obama are shouting "LIPSTICK!" while the pigs on the other side of the fence are talking to each other. One pig says, "So this is how they decide the leader of the free world". The other pig says "You can dress 'em up but they're just politicians". This cartoon is rather humorous. The fact that there are two pigs talking about the two politicians is quite funny. Obama and McCain both made comments about putting lipstick on a pig and now the pigs are judging them. The pig also says, "you can dress 'em up but they're just politicians". This is almost as true as the comments senator Obama and senator McCain made. No matter what, you can dress something up as much as you'd like, but in the end it will still be what you started with. The two politicians are also fighting in the picture, they are fighting in real life, without the contact of course. This whole lipstick thing just seems like nothing more then a way to make their opponent look worse.

I think that “you can dress ‘em up but they’re still politicians” is very true. It seems to be referring to the fact that politicians often lie or “dress themselves up” in order to suit themselves and win votes. This is saying that no matter how much they promise something, it isn’t necessarily going to come true.

Most of this response is an analysis of the cartoon and does not contain much argument from you. Your second paragraph should always contain your argument in response to the topic of the cartoon.
